Leonid “Lenny” Kotlyar, 79, of Holland, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family. He lived a full and meaningful life devoted to his family, his work, and the many interests that brought him joy. He courageously battled Parkinson’s disease for five years.
Leonid is survived by his beloved wife, Tatyana; his son, Konstantin, and his wife, Jill; his daughter, Anna, and her husband, Dmitry; and his grandchildren, Seth, Alexandra, Layla, Abigail, Ryan, and Adam. He was also a proud great grandfather to Dahlia. He is survived by his brother, Valerie; his sister, Vera; and many extended family members and loved ones who will miss him dearly. Leonid was preceded in death by his father, David; his mother, Raisa; and his sister in law, Zoya.
Throughout his life, Leonid was a hardworking and dedicated man. He spent many years working as a Service Engineer and took immense pride in his work. Earlier in life, he served in the Soviet Army, an experience that helped shape the strength, discipline, and resilience he carried throughout his life.
But Leonid was far more than the work he did. He was a family man, an artist, a musician, a philosopher, a reader, a seeker, and a dreamer. He had a deep appreciation for art, music, and books, as well as a lifelong passion for chess. Some of his most treasured moments were spent playing chess with his grandchildren, sharing not only the game but also his time, patience, and love.
Leonid never stopped thinking, questioning, and learning. He encouraged his family to do the same: to think for themselves, question the world around them, finish what they started, keep learning, and believe that anything was possible.
Above all, Leonid will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. His memory will live on in the family he loved so deeply, in the lessons he shared, and in the countless moments that made him an unforgettable part of their lives.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
