Lillian Inez Sawyer Gray, 89
WAYNE, Pa. -- Lillian Inez Sawyer Gray, 89, of Wayne, Pa., died peacefully on Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at the Wayne Center in Wayne, Pa.
She was born in Farmerville, La., on May 12, 1924, the daughter of the late Jordan Asa and Josephine Wheeler Sawyer. She graduated from Farmerville High School and in December, 1942, in Monroe, La., she married Jerry Schulman of Brooklyn, N.Y. They moved to Brooklyn where her two daughters, Olivia Sue and Bonnie Gail were born. Inez and Jerry were divorced 16 years later. In 1972, she married Austin Gray in Seminole, Texas, and they remained together until his death in 1997.
For many years, Inez worked as a sales associate and department manager at two fine ladies apparel stores. She loved gardening, music, dancing, drawing, Jones Beach, and she was an excellent cook, but her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the greatest joys of her life.
In addition to being predeceased by her parents; ex-husband, Jerry Schulman; and husband, Austin Gray; she was predeceased by three brothers, Huey Lee (H.L.), Calvin and Ramsey Sawyer, and three sisters, Bonnie Sawyer, Doris Smith and Quell Russell. She is survived by a sister, Truda Mae Rosner; daughters, Sue Schulman Levy and her husband Milton of Malvern, Pa., and Bonnie Schulman Klein and her husband James of Cumberland Foreside; and grandchildren, Scot Levy, his wife Lisa and their children Elizabeth and Madelyn, Caryn Levy Haag, her husband Rene and their children Noah, Jacob and Anna, Tyler Levy, his wife Noreen and their children Grace, Haley and James, Joshua Klein, his wife Karen and their children Jake and Joseph, Jesse Klein, his wife Susannah and son Jonas, and Jordan Klein, his wife Kendra and daughter Madelyn.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Joseph Levine & Sons, Broomall, Pa. Interment will follow at Haym Salomon Memorial Park in Fazer, Pa.
