Lore Nanette Loeb: July 21, 1936 to November 10, 2019. Lore was the first child of Ernest Glaser and Erna nee Roos, born in Freiburg, Germany. Her family escaped Nazi Germany in 1939 and emigrated to the United States, where she lived during her childhood in Philadelphia. Her father died when she was only 10 years old. She married Walter Loeb from Philadelphia in 1955, and they moved to Columbus, Ohio. They had four children and helped found Congregation Beth Tikvah. In 1970, the family moved to Rockville, Maryland. Lore was the quintessential gatherer of family and friends. She was in her glory hosting Passover dinners and other holiday feasts, where extended family and friends crowded the home and enjoyed her much renowned matzoh ball soup. She and Walter moved frequently due to his job, and she maintained long-term friendships with people across the nation. She was loved for her tolerant, no-nonsense, and practical approach to life. After raising her four children, she worked as a preschool teacher at the Jewish Community Center and in a real estate office, among other jobs. She and Walter retired to Paw Paw, West Virginia in 1997 where she was a founder, benefactor and board member in the Avalon naturist community. Lore died suddenly in Silver Spring, Maryland, where she had moved to be nearer to family after Walter's health declined. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Greenbaum, and by her children, Robert "Butch", Lenny, Steven, and Desiree Loeb-Guth. Also, by Butch and Meryl's children, Gabe (wife, Rebecca; children Anya and Rena) and Jeremy; Lenny and Loren's children, Josh (wife, Rachael; children Louis and Rosa), and Ashleigh; Steve and Diana's daughter, Amelia; and Desiree's son, Leo. She is predeceased by Desiree's daughter, Lisette.
Lore is buried at Montefiore cemetery in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. Donations in her name can be made to the American Heart Association, The Naturist Society Foundation, or Canavan Research Foundation.
