Louise Libby Clearfield (Born May 5, 1935, Died December 26, 2025)
Louise Clearfield grew up in West Hartford, Connecticut. She attended Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY and graduated in 1957. She was an accomplished visual artist who was represented in art galleries nationally, including the Station Gallery in Greenville, DE. In 2014, the Station Gallery exhibited paintings from each stage of Louise’s forty-year career. Louise wrote: “As it twists and turns, an artist’s visual journey is rarely a straight route but is always an exploration and surely an adventure”. She particularly enjoyed joining the Curtis Institute of Music’s summer travels to Verbier and Evian with her husband, Harris, creating artwork inspired by students and faculty. Louise played piano in her youth and was passionate about music, especially opera. Loving, vibrant, creative, warm, and generous, Louise cared deeply for her family.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Harris Clearfield, MD, son Jonathan (wife Nancy) and daughter Andrea and grandchildren Courtney and Jack Clearfield.
