Lucille Carlton, adoring wife and loving mother, passed peacefully in her sleep on February 21, 2024, just 2 months shy of her 101st birthday.
Lucille led an extraordinary life as a remarkably creative teacher, successful artist in many different art media, helpmate in her husband’s veterinary practice, caregiver in his Parkinson’s disease, lecturer for the National Parkinson’s Foundation, published poet, and published author of two books. Her goal in life was always to help others. Even strangers could sense her warmth and understanding. The family would often joke that she had a “friendly face” and would effortlessly learn her seat-mate’s life story in the course of a 10-minute bus ride or 1-hour airplane flight. Her care and wisdom touched many throughout the years, helping those she knew and those she never realized she touched so deeply.
She will be greatly missed by many. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert Carlton, and is survived by her daughters Wendy Carlton, Betsy Carlton, and Lauren Lederman, son-in-law Rusty Bramlage, and grandchildren Nick Bramlage, Alissa Bramlage, Joshua Needleman (Megan Needleman), and Sara Robitaille (Aaron Robitaille), and great-grandchildren Mila and Josie Needleman and, Isaac and Quincy Robitaille.
A small private funeral was held March 6, 2024 at Hyam Salomon cemetery in Frazer, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The National Parkinson’s Foundation (Parkinson.org), Purr Partners of North Carolina (purrpartners.org), or any charity of your choice.
