Marcia Jane Gellert Debrovner

Marcia Jane Gellert Debrovner died in the early hours of May 1, 2021 in her home in Delray Beach, Florida. She was 86. Born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. on Valentine's Day, 1935 to Percy and Edith Gellert, Marcia was raised in Yonkers, NY. After graduating Roosevelt High School, she went to the University of Michigan and earned a B.A. in teaching in 1958. After college, Marcia returned to Yonkers, working as a kindergarten teacher and later as a legal secretary in her father's firm.

Marcia moved to White Plains, N.Y. in 1964. In 1967, she married Harold Debrovner - her loving partner and companion for fifty-three years. Starting in 2008, they split their time between White Plains and Delray Beach and in 2011, they left White Plains to spend summers in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, near her eldest daughter and grandchildren, while still wintering in Delray. Marcia was a passionate Michigan football and N.Y. Giants fan. She and Harold were extensive travelers, visiting six continents. Like her mother, Marcia was a lifelong member of Hadassah and officer. She was a board member at Boca Delray Golf and Country Club and active in the American Cancer Society.

Marcia is survived by Harold; daughter and son-in-law, Ilene and Mark Rosen of Pennsylvania; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Mirka Sussman of Vermont, daughter Gail Debrovner of New York and grandchildren Pamela, Caroline and Julia Rosen. She also leaves behind a strong network of friends. She was laid to rest on May 4th in Malvern, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to hadassah.org or pulmonaryfibrosis.org in her memory.
