“You are never too old to play in the leaves”… a favorite quote in the legacy of Marilyn J. Bader, age 94, of Doylestown PA, a free-spirited and creative soul who passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024, surrounded in love by family. Preceded in death by loving parents William J. and Mollie (nee Edelsman) Schiffman, and daughter Victoria Bader. Survived by her beloved sister Phyllis (the late Sidney) Borish of Philadelphia PA, and devoted children Randi E. (Ron) Koenig of Pittsburgh PA and Benson R. Bader of Madison AL. Also survived by her loving grandchildren Ronald Koenig III of Joffre PA, Kenneth Koenig of Pittsburgh PA, Jazmine (James) Strickland of Madison AL, and William Bader of Madison AL; devoted great-grandsons Jacob and James Hutzley of Madison AL; nieces Susan (Richard) Wathey and Terri Borish of Bucks Co. PA, and nephew Paul (Julia) Loykster-Borish of Mohnton PA, and several great-grand nieces and nephews from Bucks Co. and the West Coast. Marilyn studied art at SUNY Buffalo, the Philadelphia College of Art, and Trenton State College. She graduated with Honors from Burlington County College with an associate degree in Fine Arts and completed an interior design internship at Trenton State Psychiatric Hospital. Marilyn has been cited for her achievements in sculpture, ceramics, and pencil drawings, which include two NY State Ceramic Association awards during the 1960s – 1980s. Her work was exhibited at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Civic Center Museum, and the Willingboro Art Alliance. Marilyn taught over 50 students’ sculpture in her own “Sculptors Studio Workshop” in Philadelphia and in South Jersey. Her home also appeared in the Burlington County Times for her creative design and sculptures. Marilyn traveled cross-country to CA, survived a hurricane in FL, and has lived in multiple places including the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Kwajalein Island and St Augustine FL, where she worked at the Government House entertaining tourists in costume for many years. A private service and interment will be held at Roosevelt Cemetery in the Schiffman family plot.
