Mark Scott Ludwig

Mark Scott Ludwig, a retired restaurant manager and Philly native, passed away December 11, 2025 in Jenkintown, PA. He was 64.  Born and raised in Havertown, PA, he graduated from Haverford High School where he participated in football, shotput, and served as the lead DJ for a radio show, The Mark of Jazz. He graduated Widener University with a bachelor’s degree in food service and hospitality. He worked for over fifty years as a manager in the fields of restaurants and food service. He worked in various places around the Delaware Valley, including Ground Round, Applebee’s, and Lone Star Steakhouse. He owned his own restaurant, B.G. Luddy’s in Springfield, PA from 1991-1993. He was a wonderful cook.

He had many passions. He was an avid Philly sports fan. His Dad, B. George, took him to see his first live Eagles game at Franklin Field. He attended many more games of the various team: the Flyers, Phillies, and Sixers. His musical tastes were all encompassing: He adored big bands, the Rat Pack, Tony Bennett, Maynard Ferguson; heavy metal, as well as Jim Croce, Broadway, and beyond. He was a huge fan of mobster films and James Bond. He was the kind of person who maintained lifelong friendships, starting at the age of kindergarten and onward. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and treated everyone he met like family. Family and friends were at the center of his life.

Mark is survived by his nephews, Blake and Matthew Ludwig, and sister-in-law, Barbara Ludwig; cousins Sharon Brown-Levy and Eytan Levy, their son Mattan Levy; Judi Brown and Aaron Mandel, and their children Harrison and Ryder Williams, and Brooke Mandel.

Funeral services will be private.
