Mark Christopher Paul

Mark Christopher Paul, AIA, a long time Center City Philadelphia resident, passed away peacefully at home on November 13, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was 66 years old.

He was born and raised in East Hartford, CT, to his late parents, Dr. George and Ann Paul. Mark received his college education and degree from Penn State University. He then continued there at the School of Architecture and obtained his professional architecture license. He began his career soon after graduation in Philadelphia working for Charles Broudy & Associates. He eventually started his own company, Pomegranate, LLC.

Throughout his career he worked on architectural projects large and small. He especially enjoyed mentoring and advising young architects in their careers. He also loved woodworking, riding his Ducati motorcycle and playing the guitar. He was a passionate fan of The Beatles; one day he was randomly approached on the street by a a representative of a radio station who was holding a contest on how many people knew The Beatles’ lyrics. He knew every song they presented to him.

He and his wife Mur, who is an artist in her own right, loved collecting and displaying the art they purchased together. He and Mur were devoted dog parents. They also shared a passionate love of travel, visiting France and other European countries, often with close friends, as well as a wonderful trip to New Zealand.

His devotion and care of family and friends, co-workers or anyone along the way who needed uplifting was unparalleled. His infectious smile, sense of humor and warm personality welcomed everyone with kindness and generosity. His bear hugs were legendary.

Mark was a devout Greek Orthodox Christian and was a member of St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church in Cherry Hill, NJ. Mark had recently begun taking Greek classes.

Mark and his beloved wife, Mur Sherman Hayman were together for 41 years. He is also survived by his step daughter Ashley Hayman, his granddaughter Laila, his sister Stacy Kardos, her children Theone and Paul and his wife Sierra, his brother George Paul and his wife Ellen, and his sister Thalia O’Gorman and her husband Tom and their children Philip and his wife Sydney, Emily, Christian and William.
