BROUDY
MARTIN S. BROUDY, 1922-2013, WWII hero, businessman, gentleman, and mentor, left the world peacefully and as a better place, February 14, 2013, surrounded by family. Formally of Philadelphia, Coconut Creek, FL and Plano, TX, husband of the previously deceased wife Ruth, he is survived by his siblings Judith Broudy (Charles), Bebe and Jay Richman; his children Jeffrey and Charmaine, Michael, Scott and Nancy, grandchildren Alex, Rissa, and Linsey, and countless loving nieces and nephews. Born during the Great Depression, the oldest of three to a fatherless household, Martin graduated from West Philadelphia High School, served as a Combat Infantryman under the Americal Division in the South Pacific during WWII, and was honorably discharged on November 11, 1945, earning the Bronze Star Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, WWII Victory Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Philippine Liberation Medal, and the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation. He was a proud member of both the 164th Infantry and Amercial Associations. Humbled by his military service and family obligations, Martin's generosity, kindness, and strength enabled him to live a very robust, long, and happy life. A character not worthy of defeat, pity, nor submission, Martin worked as a businessman in both Philadelphia and Florida into his late 70's. Fiercely independent, Martin relocated to Sunrise of Plano, TX to share in the daily lives of his cherished granddaughters. He was our family pillar of strength, a selfless role model who made a difference in the lives of friends and strangers alike. At peace and comfort, Martin's contagious spirit of life is a gift to all the family, friends, and Sunrise neighbors fortunate enough to be blessed by his presence. Relatives and friends are invited to Services, Monday 10:00 AM,
