Mayer J. Schnyder, 87, of Havertown, PA, passed away on November 17th, 2024. Born to Louis and Marie Schnyder, Mayer and his younger brother George grew up in Merion Station, PA. He attended Friends’ Central School. He joined the U.S. Army Reserve. After graduating from Franklin & Marshall College he spent his career working at his family’s wholesale plumbing and heating supply business: M. Schnyder & Co in Philadelphia. After retirement, his strong work ethic led him to return to work for his brother’s company IBS Direct in King of Prussia.
His life was forever changed when family friend Dr. William Gartner, Sr. insisted and introduced him to his future wife Roz. Mayer was a dedicated family man. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was kind, hardworking and generous. His greatest accomplishment has always been his family. He loved to spend quality time with all his 4 children, their spouses and 9 grandchildren every summer at Rehoboth Beach; a treasured family tradition he started back in the 1970’s when his kids were small.
His cheerful disposition and laughter were infectious. He was an avid Philly sports fan! No one was more ecstatic when the Eagles won their first Super Bowl. He touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Beloved husband of almost 62 years to Rosalind (nee Goldberg); loving father of Philip Schnyder (Emma), Kathryn Schnyder, Nancy Naylor (Peter), and Morris Schnyder (Irene); adoring grandfather of Ryan Emery (Molly Anderson), Dylan Emery, Reba Tolkin (Elliot), Rory Schnyder, Lucas Naylor, Sophie Naylor, Colby Schnyder, Owen Schnyder, and Ashley Schnyder and great-grandfather of Margaret Emery; devoted brother of George Schnyder (Lynne).
