Michael Alterman of King of Prussia, PA passed on November 1, 2024.
He was the beloved husband of Martine (nee Thorp); loving father of Stephen Alterman, Stuart Alterman (Lauren), and Monique Alterman-Burgener (Jerry Burgener); adoring pop-pop of Geoffrey Alterman (Paulina) and Evan Alterman (Gabrielle Urban).
Michael was a proud combat veteran of the US Marines and served in Iwo Jima. He earned many decorations and medals recognizing his dedication, including a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
When he returned from the military, Michael began a career in law enforcement. He was the Chief Constable of Philadelphia County, later an officer in the Millbourne Boro of Delaware County, and ultimately retired as the District Director of the Pennsylvania State Board of Probation and Parole.
Retirement did not stop Michael. He earned his real estate license so he could support his loving wife Martine in her successful endeavors in the business.
Michael was active in many organizations including the Masonic Lodge Rising Star #126 and he was a founding member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #92 for Narcotics Investigators. He was actively involved in local, county, and state politics. He was also an avid hunter and expert marksman.
As dedicated as he was in his career and memberships, Michael was equally devoted to his family. He was ever-present, cheering his family on through good times and being a source of support during difficult times. No matter the time or circumstance, Michael was always there to be involved with Martine, his children, and his grandchildren.
