J. Nancy Wolf passed away peacefully on August 18, 2023. She was born January 4, 1929 in Wilkes-Barre, PA where she lived with her parents, Theresa Bergsmann Bloch and Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Bloch, Jr., and sister Ruth Betty until heading to Russell Sage College. After college in 1946 and a tour of Europe, Nancy moved to NYC for work where she met her husband of forty-nine years, Leonard Wolf. They returned to Kingston, PA and raised four children: Shelley, Susan, Bill and Jim.
Nancy attended Wilkes College in 1962 to earn a teaching degree. In 1965 she and Leonard purchased a home on Long Beach Island where the family spent over fifty summers. During that time, her family grew as the children married and had children of their own. In addition to her four children, there are now their four spouses, eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Marco Island, FL became Nancy and Leonard’s home in 1977 until 2017. Nancy was always open to learning new things. She took up golf at age 70, played bridge, and enjoyed tennis and reading. Her sense of adventure led her to accompany her son-in-law and Jim for sailing races in NY Harbor.
Nancy loved to ice skate during her childhood and took up skiing as an adult and taught all of her children the sport. If there was a “snow day” from school, she loaded her children into the car and drove to Elk Mountain for the day to ski. All continue to enjoy the sport of skiing.
As a wife, mother, Nana and Great Nana, Nancy dedicated her life to her children and husband. She was truly a caretaker to all, learning home dialysis for Leonard before his kidney transplants and spending time wherever her children were to help with newborns and childcare.
Always with a sense of humor and quick wit, Nancy regarded herself as the healthiest person at the Quadrangle Continuing Care Community in Haverford, PA where she lived from 2017.
The family requests that any bequests be made in Nancy’s memory to the “Young Gastrointestinal Endowed Research Fund” established in tribute to Louis and Frank Young, care of Fox Chase Cancer Center, 333 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19111
