GREENBAUM
NORMAN GORDON, of Bala Cynwyd PA died on Sat., May 2, 2015. Husband of Shirley (nee Pepp) for 68 years. Father of Alan (Andee) Greenbaum, Marvin (Susan) Greenbaum and Barbara (David) DePutron. Brother of Don (Shelley) Greenbaum and Elaine Gilberg. Grandfather of Marni (Jon) Deckter, Dana (Jordan) Schachter, Jacob (Shira) Greenbaum, Katie (Philip) Neff, Nicole (Peter) Horton and Stephen (Jasmine) DePutron; and great grand-father of Samuel, Izzy, Sati, Dakota, Noah, Isaac, Lily and Ruby. He was a beloved and devoted friend to many. Mr. Greenbaum was born in the Wynnefield section of Phila. and graduated from Overbrook High School at the age of 16. He graduated from Penn State, was a member of Phi Epsilon Pi fraternity and was a life-long Nittany Lions fan. As a member of the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Greenbaum served in the South Pacific as a cryptographer in World War II. He went on to join his father in the family business, Middleburg Tanning Company where he worked until he retired in 1995. While raising his 3 children in Wynnewood, Mr. Greenbaum was active in numerous community and school-related organizations. He was President of the Ard-Wood Civic Assn. and is often and fondly remembered for arranging a school-wide trip to the New York World's Fair for all students at Ardmore Junior High School. Mr. Greenbaum continued his commitment to volunteering throughout his life, particularly at Lankenau Hospital where he logged in over 9,000 hours of service. A kind and gentle man, Mr. Greenbaum will be fondly missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Relatives and friends are invited to Services Monday, May 4, 2015, at 12 noon at Har Zion Temple, 1500 Hagys Ford Road at Hollow Ford Road. Int. at Roosevelt Memorial Park. The family will return to the residence of Susan and Marvin Greenbaum and request that contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
