Phyllis Lenore Borish, aged 98, passed peacefully in her home, surrounded by family. A native of Philadelphia, she started her journey on 13th St. in Philadelphia, a home built by her grandparents and inhabited by three generations of family. She met her husband, Sidney Carl Borish, who preceded her in death, on the beach in Atlantic City, on a dare from friends. They shared 58 years of marriage and had three loving children: Susan Wathey (Richard), Terri Borish, and Paul Borish (Julia). Phyllis was beloved by her children in law, who considered themselves to have made out better than most, as far as in-laws go. She was known as Mom-mom to some and Grandmom to others and in total had five grandchildren: Aaron Freeman, Sarah Freeman, Matthew Karp, Rachel Karp, and Sydney Loytsker-Borish and three great-children: Ashton, Benjamin, and Stella.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents William J. and Mollie (nee Edelsman) Schiffman, and sisters Louise Schiffman, and Marilyn J. Bader.
Phyllis was an avid reader (hardcovers only!) and Bridge player. She had a wicked sense of humor and was as stubborn as they come. Always elegant, stoic, composed, she had a love of travel, that she passed on to her children, and a flair for meticulous organization, that she definitely did not. Phyllis loved her family and friends and maintained many lifelong friendships, including several from childhood. She will be missed and remembered by many.
