DR. RALPH A., aged 93, Gladwyne PA, April 15, 2015. Born in Philadelphia. Survived by his wife, Gayle (née Lewis); his children, Hilary Schaper (Reed Schaper), Todd Jessar, Jamie Jessar (Robert Dann), Kevin Jessar (Nancy Siegel); 6 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Graduated from Central High School, B.S., University of Pennsylvania (College, 1943); M.D., University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine (1946); G.M.D., University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine (1947). Served in the US Navy, Lieutenant J.G. Served on the Faculty of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and as Chief of Rheumatology at Graduate Hospital. As a rheumatologist, Dr. Jessar was a member of the research team that developed the use of corticosteroid injections for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. The Service will be held at Beth David Reform Congregation in Gladwyne PA, on Tuesday, April 21, at 10:30 A.M., with a reception to follow at Waverly Heights in Gladwyne.
