On Sunday, February 2, 2020, Richard Elliott Burr, loving husband and father of two children passed away at the age of 71.
Richie was born on December 10, 1948 to Sam and Naomi (Udell) Burr. He received his bachelor's degree from Temple University and after a few years working with his father in business, worked for General Metalcraft, Inc. as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He continued there until his retirement in 1997. He was married to Janis Burr Dicht for 20 years and they raised two beautiful children, Maggie Burr Harbour and Andy Burr. He and his wife, Karla Spencer, enjoyed over 30 years together.
Richie had a passion for scuba diving from age sixteen until just a few years before his passing. His diving resume included exotic destinations like the Caymans, Cocos Island off Costa Rica, as well as his weekly trips off the Atlantic coast to explore the various wrecks there. He was also an avid underwater photographer and if you knew Richie, you were subject to watching endless slides from his dive trips.
He was a dedicated Eagles fan and attended most home games for the last 40+ years. He was known as 'Chef' to many for his phenomenal tailgate cooking. Richie also enjoyed hiking in his senior years and accompanied his wife on many rock climbing trips for the hiking and photo opportunities.
Richie was preceded in death by his mother, Naomi, and his father, Sam. He is survived by his wife, Karla, his daughter, Maggie and her husband Tyler with their two boys, Charlie and Lochland, his son, Andy and his wife Stacie, his ex-wife, Janis and her husband, Jerry, his sister, Linda Bosniak, and two nephews, Mike and Pete, and many cousins.
Family and friends are invited to Services at Noon on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Joseph Levine & Sons, 4737 E. Street Rd., Trevose, PA 19053. Interment will be at Roosevelt Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Oceana (www.oceana.org).
