Richard Melville Meyer of Elkins Park passed away peacefully of natural causes on October 16, 2024. He was born in Einstein Hospital in 1943 and taken to the family’s home in Elkins Park, PA where he lived for 60 years. His parents were Martin and Norma Meyer. His siblings were: James Meyer (Cindy) of Broomall, PA, Carol Meyer Levi (the late William) of Hatfield, PA and the late John Meyer (Carol) of Ohio. Through his marriage of 25 years to Helen Roedel, he had two stepchildren, Adam Correira and Bryan Fine. His nephew David Meyer and child Aiden of New Jersey and niece Jill Young, her husband Lee Young and daughters Katherine and Elizabeth were his extended family. Richard attended and graduated from the Cheltenham School System, and then graduated with an AA degree in Accounting from Temple University. He also volunteered and contributed his talents to Keneseth Israel Synagogue Radio Show for 63 years, as well as doing a great deal of electrical work in all areas of KI building. As he completed Cheltenham HS, he worked at this father’s business, Theodore Meyer, Inc., BLACK CROSS, PEST CONTROL, and concluded his career with computer systems at Foamex, Inc. and Vertis, Inc. Later in his career, he excelled as a contract programmer/analyst solving computer problems at assorted companies throughout the Philadelphia Area.
A service in his honor at Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel (KI) will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Richard’s memory may be made to Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel (https://www.kenesethisrael.org/).
