SACKS
RICHARD, Feb. 17, 1926 - Oct. 12, 2004. His wife Eleanor, his niece Janie Noble Simon, his nephews Dr. Charles Sacks, John Sacks and Joseph Meo, who was "like a son" watched him close, his loving big blue eyes peacefully for the last time before his journey at the hospital in New Jersey near his home in Ocean City. He was loved and respected for his feisty spirit and loyal support, especially in times of need. He became known to many as "Uncle Dick." Richard went to Germantown High and Miami University and he was in the Navy during WWII. He was a radio operator and among the first to receive word of the Japanese surrender from Admiral "Bull" Halsey. He proudly kept framed the words from Admiral Halsey's transmission upon his wall at Valley Forge Towers. Richard and his brother Karl and their father Philip built Industrial Valley Plumbing and Heating in Berwyn, PA. Fisherman knew him as "The Mighty M." The others that survived him were his sister Marjorie Arowesty, his niece Linda Landau and his nephew Dr. Steve Sacks and many dear friends. Services will be held at the Chapel at Mount Sharon Cem., Springfield, PA, Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at 1 P.M. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Margate, NJ, as well as in Boca Raton, FL. Contributions in his memory may be made to Alzheimer's Research Assn. Family contacts:
