BRISKIN
ROBERT "BOB" BRISKIN, 44, died peacefully, Nov. 17, 2003, after recently being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Bob was the son of Dr. Arthur Briskin and Irma Briskin Sitkoff and a lifelong resident of the Main Line, spending his last 38 years in Radnor. He was a talented musician, gifted vocalist, and avid tennis player. Bob graduated Radnor High in 1976 and earned both a BS and JD degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He briefly practiced law in Bryn Mawr with his brother, Jonathan Briskin. In 1991, Bob purchased the Maine Teen Camp in Porter, Maine, a dynamic and well-respected summer camp of teenagers from across the U.S. and around the world. Up until his death, he continued to own and operate the camp, touching the lives of thousands of young people. Bob's selflessness and generosity has had a positive impact on the lives of countless people. He is survived by his wife of 19 years Dr. Mara Underwood Briskin, an anesthesiologist at Bryn Mawr Hospital, and their 4 children, Steven 17, Julia 15, Olivia 10 and Nicole 8. He is also survived by his mother, Irma Briskin Sitkoff of Swarthmore, his brother, Dr. Jonathan Briskin, of Radnor, his sister, Dr. Barbara Briskin Vaughn of Cary, NC, his stepbrother, Dr. Andrew Sitkoff of West Chester, his stepsister, Marianne Sitkoff Hampton, of San Francisco, as well as a large extended family and many close friends, all of whom loved him dearly and will miss his intellect, his sharp wit, and his wonderfully caring spirit.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Arthur, and his brother Roger, a decorated Marine who was killed in action in Vietnam in 1967.
Robert will be buried at Haym Salomon Cemetery with a private family service. The family asks that in lieu of flowers and cards, contributions be made to a special tax-deductible scholarship fund to support deserving teenagers who could not otherwise attend summer camp. Checks should be made out to "ACA Camper Scholarship Program" and sent to Robert Briskin Scholarship Memorial, c/o Joseph M. Fisher, Esquire, 94 Station St., Hingham, MA 02043.
