Robert James Daly

Robert James Daly (Captain Bob) was born June 16, 1944 and passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2023.  He was 79 years old.

Bob was born in Philadelphia to Ruth (Whitman) and John (Jack) Daly. He attended St. Bartholomew Elementary School and Father Judge High School.  He received his bachelor’s degree from East Stroudsburg University. For most of his career, he worked in sales for Zimmer Orthopedics. In the years leading up to retirement, he was the Eastern Regional Vice President of Sales.

When he retired, Bob’s dream of sailing the world came true.  He earned his captain’s license and began sailing on his beloved sailboat, Irish Whisper.  He quickly became known as “Captain Bob” in the ports of Florida and all around the Caribbean.  

In addition to sailing, Bob also enjoyed cooking and sharing his restaurant quality recipes.  He was well known for his welcoming smile and storytelling.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his son, Robert J. Daly Jr. (Amanda), his daughter, Tara M. Carey (Neal), his two grandsons, Bobby and Tyler, his brother, John (Jack) Daly (Evie), a niece, nephews, and many cousins.

The family will receive relatives and friends 10:30 AM Tuesday October 24, 2023 at Joseph Levine & Sons, 4737 Street Road, Trevose, PA.  Services will begin promptly at 11:30AM and interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
