HIRSCH
ROBERTA (nee Kopp)
The family is saddened to announce the passing of Roberta on August 8, 2018.
Roberta was the deeply beloved wife of William J. "Bill" Hirsch to whom she was married for 63 years. Roberta was an incredibly loving mother (mother-in-law) to Norma (Gary) Mann, Matthew (Cindy) Hirsch and Robin (Chris) Thieme, and sister to Leslie Trencher and Renee Matilsky (of blessed memory). Roberta was a devoted and car-ing grandmother to Alex, Ethan, Sophia, Elysia, Andrew, Ashley and Julian. From their pre-school years to their college graduations and beyond, Grandma rarely missed a play, recital, sporting match, presentation, competition or other special event.
Roberta traveled the world with Bill, from Mexico, Ecuador and the Galapagos, to Russia, Croatia, Corsica and beyond. She lived life to the fullest, and regularly attended concerts, the theater, the opera, and the movies. She was a great reader and to some a fashion-ista. She danced, she dined, she entertained, all done with great humor. She hosted family for Thanksgiving, Jewish holidays, anniversaries and birthdays. She looked forward to any opportunity to celebrate with friends or family.
Roberta was a proud graduate of Erasmus Hall High School and Brooklyn College. When her children were in their teens, Roberta went back to school and earned a Master's Degree in Special Education from Arcadia University. She served for many years as an educator, working with children with special needs and their teachers. She was a long-time resident of Wayne and a recent resident of The Quadrangle, Haverford, Pennsylvania.
Roberta was a positive, optimis-tic and determined individual in all aspects of her life, including the last few years of her life. Contributions in her memory may be made in her name to any charity chosen by the donor. There will be Graveside Services for family and friends on Sunday, 12 Noon, August 12, at Haym Salomon Memorial Park, 200 Moore's Road, Frazer PA. Shiva will be observed Sunday through Tuesday evenings, at the Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy (272 South Bryn Mawr Ave., Bryn Mawr), from 7 to 9 P.M., with a brief Service at 7:30 P.M. each evening.
