Ruth Helen Sinberg Sataloff, 95
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Ruth Helen Sinberg Sataloff passed away on Feb. 8, 2018, at her home in Philadelphia. She was born on Feb. 19, 1922. She grew up in Elkins Park, Pa. and graduated from Penn State University.
As a young woman she enjoyed playing tennis, and it was at the Philmont Country Club that she met Joseph Sataloff on the courts and married him soon after. The two celebrated their 60th anniversary shortly before he passed away in 2008.
The two lived in Bala-Cynwyd, Pa. and spent all of their summers in North Belgrade, Maine, at their second home, cherishing their time there with dear friends and family.
Ruth and Joe enjoyed traveling, and they made several trips to Europe where they enjoyed their hunt for antique jewelry, a lifelong avocation. Ruth loved her jewelry, whether it was the "real stuff" or her many beloved pieces of costume. She helped Joe run "Jewelry Camp" at the University of Maine in Orono, where she often was a guest lecturer on mourning jewelry.
Ruth played piano by ear and would still sit at the piano at 94 and play show tunes on request. She also loved to write poetry, prompting her devoted husband to "publish" two volumes of "Nana's Poetry".
Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and will be deeply missed by son Robert (Dahlia) Sataloff, daughter Jody (Steve Brinn) Sataloff; granddaughter Jamie Cluchey, grandsons Jeremy and Daniel Cluchey and John and Ben Sataloff; and great-grandchildren Rose and Fred Cluchey and Josephine Marzilli.
