GOLD
SANDY (SYLVA) GOLD (nee Pollack), of Springfield Delaware County, PA passed away suddenly Wed., March 23, 2011 in her home. She was 75.
A retired cantor and medical technician, Sandy was born on February 25, 1936 in Philadelphia. She received her education at Girls High and Lankenau Hospital. In 1956, she married businessman Richard Gold (deceased) and moved to Broomall, PA where she worked and raised her family.
Sandy was a lover of the arts: painting, ceramics, and was especially passionate about music. She was also devoted to caring for people as a medical technician for a practice at Lankenau Hospital. In addition to the physical needs of her patients, Sandy cared for their spiritual needs as well in her role as Para Chaplain for both Lankenau and Bryn Mawr Hospitals.
Sandy was a musical pioneer as the first female cantorial soloist in the United States. She served as cantor for Temple Sholom in Broomall for many years, where she later joined the choir . She was also an active member and soloist of New Horizons Glee Club in Delaware County.
Sandy is survived by her daughters Wendy and Robin, her "almost-sons" Dale and William, friends and family, who will all dearly miss the sound of her voice.
