Sanford K. Mozes

Sanford “Sandy” Kenneth Mozes of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a devoted father, husband, and community leader, died on December 2, 2024, at age 69. The son of Aurel (deceased) and Rose (deceased), Sandy is survived by his wife, Clare Kahn; his brothers, Robert and Clifford; his sons, Daniel (Julie Perilstein), Eric (Lizzie Horne), and Jonathan; his step-daughter, Ellie Kahn; and his grandsons, Henry, Max, and Shai. He was predeceased by his first wife, Gail Harary Mozes. Sandy was born and raised in Queens, New York. After graduating from Solomon Schecter, he attended Queens College and graduated in 1976. He received his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and joined Fox Rothschild following graduation in 1979 until his retirement in 2020. At Fox Rothschild, he was a partner in the corporate department, representing large, closely held businesses in transactions and general corporate matters, and was a former elected member of the firm’s executive committee and former chair of the corporate department. As the son of Holocaust survivors who immigrated to America, Sandy was committed to bettering the lives of immigrants and children everywhere through his volunteer work. He served as the treasurer of the board of Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, treasurer and director of the board of St. Christopher’s Foundation for Children, on the national board of HIAS, and as president of its local chapter, HIAS Pennsylvania. Sandy was a beloved member of each of his communities, and was, for his sons especially, a guiding light. A funeral service will be held at Levine Funeral Home (1002 Skippack Pike, Blue Bell, PA) on Wednesday, December 4, at 12 pm, and interment will follow at Laurel Hill West Cemetery (225 Belmont Ave, Bala Cynwyd, PA). Donations to honor and remember Sandy may be made to HIAS Pennsylvania or to Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel.
