Sheri Ward

Ward, (nee Hausman) Sheri, February 10, 2026, beloved wife of Michael Ward; devoted mother of Deborah Ward (Brian Bond); doting daughter of the late Elaine (Bell) and James Hausman; loving sister of Margaret Straight (Jim) and the late Carole Hausman;

Throughout her life, Sheri made it her mission to care for and uplift others. She worked for many years in the Springfield School District, serving in a variety of roles but most notably as the “School Store Lady.” For almost 16 years, she created a space that was more than just a place to buy candy and gym uniforms: it was a refuge for students who needed a break, a place to gather their thoughts, and someone who would listen.

Beyond this, for the past 20 years, Sheri devoted herself to caring for her beloved mother – Elaine – who passed away last March at the age of 101. Sheri gave her mother a beautiful life filled with dignity, comfort, and love. Their relationship was deeply special and the bond they shared was a true reflection of who Sheri was at her core: endlessly giving, profoundly compassionate, and always placing the needs of others before her own.

Sheri had a zest for life and her many past-times included jewelry making, scrapbooking, doing puzzles, and collecting tchotchkes like Hess trucks and nutcrackers. She cherished her sorority sisters of Lambda Zeta Pi from Shippensburg University - annual vacations, homecomings, and barbecues with these lifelong friends were highlights she looked forward to every year. Sheri especially loved the holidays. She was renowned for her epic gift baskets, over-the-top Halloween treat bags, and famous pizzelle cookies.

Sheri leaves behind an astounding legacy of kindness and care for others. There will be no formal services at this time. We ask that you simply keep Sheri alive through your thoughts and memories, now and always.
