ZLOTNICK-OSTROFF
SHIRLEY Sunday, May 3, 2015, age 89, after a brave two year battle with Alzheimer's left this life. She graduated West Philadelphia H.S. at age 16 to join the Signal Corp 5000 Wissahickon Ave., Phila. during WWII. She was a devoted wife, daughter and mother to her 2 sons, Gary and Danny. She worked at American Arbitration Associates for 15 years. She also volunteered at Jeanes Hospital for 25 years. She was first married to the late Milton Zlotnick and then to the late Edward Ostroff. She was devoted to her parents, the late Anna and Morris Granoff and her sister the late Sylvia Wolk. Special appreciation goes out to her cousin Joan Freedman and Arthur, Arlene and Beth Wolk and her caretakers. Her caretakers include Teressa (CNA), Rebecca (CNA), Nurse Deb Simmons (RN, MS), Social Worker Erin (LSN, MS), Chaplin Tom, Rabbi Simcha and Meals on Wheels. Her main focus in life were her 2 sons. She raised her sons after the untimely death of her first husband. She was a loyal friend, sincere, caring and honest. She will be sorely missed by all those who knew her. Graveside Services at Montefiore Cem., Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 2 P.M. Shiva will be held at her son's residence. Anyone desiring to attend Shiva, it will be the one night, starting at 4 P.M. after the Funeral. A special invite to attend the Funeral/Shiva goes out to the Mailer's Union 1414, Philadelphia Inquirer and PATP Downingtown, Toll Takers Union. In closing her sons' lives have been changed forever with her passing. She will be remembered for her humor, wisdom, wit and independence. Although she is gone, the love that she gave will live on.
