Sidney L. Copel

Dr. Sidney L. Copel, age 96, on October 4, 2026, of Haverford, PA; beloved husband of Joan (nee Danzig); loving father of Valerie and Kenneth, adored father-in-law of April; cherished grandfather of Allison, Jamie, Kayla and Todd.

Dr. Copel, a clinical psychologist, received his undergraduate and graduate training at Temple University. For many years he was the administrator of the Psychological Clinic at the Devereux Foundation where he ran one of the largest programs of its kind in the country. After leaving Devereux he went into private practice until his retirement in 1995.

Sidney published books in his field, lectured on topics of mental health and served as a consultant to schools, clinics and police departments.

He was also, for a time, a consultant of player personnel for the Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Rams.

Due to an intense interest in the Civil War, he collected Civil War artifacts and gave lectures at Civil War round tables throughout the Delaware Valley.

Relatives and friends are invited to memorial services, Friday, October 9, 2026, 12:00PM at Joseph Levine & Sons, 2811 West Chester Pike, Broomall PA.
