Stephen Anthony Furkey

Stephen Anthony, born on October 03, 1981, in Boston, Massachusetts, died peacefully on May 10, 2024, in Hazlet, NJ. Stephen was a long time resident of Monmouth County, NJ. He attended Matawan- Aberdeen High school where he met the love of his life Kristi. Together they went on to build a life together in Hazlet, NJ, raising two sons, Stephen and Noah. In earlier years, you could often find Steve hanging out by the water fishing, and sometimes you couldn’t “reel him in”! He loved to be outdoors and in nature. He had a strong love for his dogs Bruce, Cannoli, Tesla and Slinky, he loved to share many videos and pictures of his latest adventure traveling and biking with them. He enjoyed camping with his family, always on the hunt for the next campsite they could explore together. From a very young age, Stephen had a natural curiosity and talent for how things work, especially electronics. This later led his path to his career as a lineman of the IBEW Local 456; where he took great pride in being a part of the brotherhood. Music played a pivotal role in Stephen’s life- when words would fail him, music would speak. His childlike spirit brimming with wanderlust will eternally be cherished.

Survived by his high school sweetheart of 24 years, Kristi Furkey; father of Stephen Koza and Noah Furkey; cherished son of Donna Furkey Devlin; loving brother of Elyse (Ted) Gallagher and Ashley Furkey; nephew of Peter (Linda) Furkey and Jim (Kristi) Furkey; beloved grandson of Peter and Maryellen Furkey; brother in law of Alissa (Vincent) Mclaughlin and Daniel Gervera; son in law of Daniel (Debbie) and Cynthia Gervera; Uncle “Stevie” to: Abby, Jaylin, Joslyn, Devlin, Mia, Ryder, and Jackson.
