Suzanne Hirsch Binswanger, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on July 14 at the age of 94. Born in 1930 in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, Suzanne was the devoted wife of Frank G. Binswanger Jr., with whom she shared 72 years of loving marriage—a bond marked by deep affection, respect, and enduring partnership.
After attending Sarah Lawrence College, Sue—known as Suby to her family and close friends—was married in 1950 and spent her entire life happily in Philadelphia, a city she loved and helped to shape in quiet, meaningful ways.
Together, Suzanne and Frank built a remarkable life centered on family and friendship. She was the proud mother of Eve Binswanger Wildrick, Jody Binswanger Snider and her husband Andy, and Jeff Binswanger and his wife Shauna. She was also a devoted grandmother to Remy Klein and her husband David, Whitney Jones and her husband Zach, David Snider and his wife Whitney, Jonathan Snider and his wife Annalisa, Zach Binswanger and his wife Katie, and Katie Binswanger. Her legacy continues through her seven beloved great-grandchildren: Ellie, Max, Stevie, Wolfe, James, Henry, and Charlie.
In 1964, Suzanne became a trailblazer when she founded Executive Interiors, an interior design firm that she led with elegance and vision. At a time when few women balanced family and business, she did so with grace and quiet confidence, becoming a role model for generations to come. Suzanne’s passion for collecting antiques and fine art reflected her beautiful taste.
Her life was defined by timeless grace, patience, and thoughtfulness. Suzanne was kind, loving, and generous—a woman who listened with care. She and Frank shared a beautiful marriage that served as an example to their children and grandchildren. Family was the center of her life, and she created cherished traditions: annual travels with children and grandchildren, special grandparent-only weekends, and holidays filled with love and meaning.
Suzanne was deeply engaged in her community. She was an active supporter of the Marriage Council, Fox Chase Cancer Center, the Butler Family Fund, and numerous arts organizations. Alongside Frank, she also treasured her involvement in the Young Presidents Organization, where they formed lifelong friendships with people from around the world.
Her presence touched the lives of all who knew her, and her memory will be forever held in the hearts of her family and friends.
A private family service will be held at Laurel Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Philadelphia Museum of Art in Suzanne’s memory.
