1926 — 2025

William Douglass

William (Bill) Douglass passed away on April 1, 2025 at the age of 98 surrounded by his wife, Ronell and his children. Born on September 9, 1926 in Philadelphia and raised in Collingdale, PA, Bill was the son of Herman and Rose (Geffner) Douglass. A lifelong athlete, Bill was quarterback of the Collingdale High football team (#77 in honor of his hero Red Grange), and lettered in football, baseball, basketball, and was an avid golfer. He was president of his class.

In 1943, Bill enlisted in the Navy. He then attended the University of Pennsylvania and graduated from the Dental School, joining his father’s practice in Collingdale.

In 1954 Bill married Ronell. They had 71 wonderful years together, raising their family, travelling, collecting art, and enjoying their children and grandchildren. After retirement, Bill became a devoted “Ikebana husband,” supporting Ronell’s passion.

He had a great sense of humor, joie de vivre, and a wide-ranging curiosity. He was loved by all. He is survived by his wife Ronell Young Douglass, children Josh (Jane), David (Lisa), Richard (Petra), and Lisa Pearlmutter (Steve). He had six grandsons: Harrison (Georgia) Douglass, Daniel (Anna) Douglass, Viktor Douglass, Elliot Douglass, Ari Pearlmutter, and Ethan Pearlmutter. Services have been held.
